That update prevented changing the default launcher, and prevented micro-sd storage from appearing when granting permissions to write to external storage. It's extra annoying because it was possible until the day-1 update. I think we'll have to wait until someone roots it to achieve it, as it is impossible right now. The app "Home Switcher" doesn't work either. You can't even "clear" the default settings for Fire Launcher. I've tried to set multiple launchers as default, but none of them work. I just (sideloaded) copied the apk for smartlauncher and installed it. Replace Launcher - Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting I managed to replace the launcher in Fire OS 5.0.0.
